YouTube playback speed is not working for these users, the company confirms the ongoing issue

YouTube users on Android are facing a disappointing bug this week that preventing them from adjusting the video playback speed. The issue has affected both phones and tablets running the Android app, and users have taken to online forums to report that playback speed settings are no longer working.
The platform, which usually allows the audience to speed or slow the video using the settings menu, now appears to be reborn at the default 1x speed even after users manually change. This problem affects both the stable and beta versions of the YouTube app for Android.

YouTube accepts bug
Google confirmed the problem through a statement quoted in a report by 9to5google, saying:
“We know that some of you are experiencing issues that adjust the playback speed while watching videos on Android devices. Our teams are actively investigating the issue! As soon as we have new information, we will update this thread.”
Our own tests also confirmed the issue, the playback speed change (for example, 1x to 2x) does not hold and the video default goes back to the standard speed within seconds.
In particular, the bug does not affect the YouTube music app, showing that this problem is currently limited to the main YouTube Android app and cannot affect all users.
Spotify modifies India’s prices
In a separate development in streaming space, Spotify has revised its pricing in India this week, the first such change after its launch in 2019. New monthly plans are as follows:
Personal Plan: 139 (above Rs119)
Duo Plan (2 users): 179 (from Rs 14)
Family Plan (up to 6 users): 229 (above Rs179)
The new prices are immediately effective and apply to both new and existing customers at the end of their current billing cycle.
