World Baseball Classic is ready to return to the sixth edition in 2026.
The tournament, which features international teams made of some of the world’s best baseball talents, will begin with four pool groups competing from 5–11 March.
Japan will once again compete as WBC Champion after defeating Team USA 3–2 in the Championship Game in 2023, which will be in the championship game with the help of Los Angeles Dojers Star Shohi Ohani.
2026 The first 16 teams scheduled to compete in WBC are: Puerto Rico, Cuba, Canada, Panama (Pool A); USA, Mexico, Italy, Great Britain (Pool B); Japan, Australia, Korea, Chechia (Pool C); Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Netherlands, Israel (Pool D).
Four more qualifying teams will be added before the tournament to round out the final 20, and the initial phase of the game will be according to the following schedule:
5-10 March
- Pool C in Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan
6-11 March
- San Juan in Pool A, Hiram at Puerto Rico at Bithorn Stadium
- Houston, Pool B at Minor Maid Park in Houston, Texas
- Miami in Pool D, Landepot Park in Florida
Miami will also host the semi -finals and championship games.
Japan is the only country that has won WBC more than once, in addition to 2023, in 2009 and 2006, the championship has been taken home to the hardware. Other previous winners include The US (2017) and Dominican Republic (2013).
