Police said a body was discovered in the scene of a burning car in Omgh over the weekend.
The police were alerted by the members of the fire service on Saturday at Rilagh Road on 14:05 BST.
A post mortem examination has been done and his family has been informed.
At this stage his death is not considered suspicious, police said.
The fire service discovered the body amidst efforts to extinguish the burning Mitsubishi Lancer GS2.
Police said they were considering the incident as arson and the woman died as a result of the fire.
Date Inspection Cone on Saturday appealed to anyone in the region between 12:00 and 14:15, or who saw anything suspicious to contact them.
“We will be especially eager to hear from any person who had dashes or other footage and would like to hear from anyone, which has paid attention to this particular vehicle,” the official said.
“How about our inquiry about how the person came next to the vehicle.”
Independent Councilor Josephin Dehan told BBC Radio Ulster’s Good Morning Ulsteter The program that “tragic and terrible situation” has left the community “really shocked, very sad and really upset”.
Dehan described Rilagha Road as a “very beautiful, quiet, rural area”, which is the home of “close-bearing, auxiliary community”.
She appreciated emergency services to participate in the “annoying situation” and echoed her call for information from the public as she said that the community wanted to “very quickly” to end speculation.
Daniel McCroson, a member of the SDLP assembly, described the incident as “deeply disturbing”.
A member of the West Tyron Assembly said, “My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the person who has lost his life very sadly.”
