American Special Envoy for Shanti Mission Steve Witcoff claims that Russian President Vladimir Putin had taken “strong” steps towards peace during his meeting with President Donald Trump last week.
Witcoff made a statement during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Breme. The officer was in the room for Alaska’s meeting and first met Putin several times.
“We agreed to a much more strong security guarantee,” said Witcoff. “Russians agreed to apply the language legally that they would not try to take any more land from Ukraine after a peace deal, where they would not focus not to violate any European borders.”
Vitkoff also said that Trump spoke directly with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelancesi and European leaders after the meeting. He said the meeting was “absolutely accepted as a win.”

The Bream pressurized Vitcoff to convince why Trump did not push Putin for a ceasefire agreement even during the meeting. Trump had earlier stated that a ceasefire was a top priority and claimed that Putin would have to face results if he did not agree to one.

He said, “The President has always talked about a ceasefire, until he won a lot of different victories in this meeting and began to feel that we can talk about a peace deal. The last deal here is a peace deal, and we were talking about a much stronger security guarantee with anyone’s imagination,” he said.

In a statement after a call with Trump, prominent European leaders did not address whether they prefer a peace deal over a ceasefire.
