A scorching heatwave is fueling dozens of wildfires in some parts of southern Europe, leading to thousands of people from their homes and above 40C (104F).
Red heat alerts have been issued in Italy, France, Spain, Portugal and parts of Balkan, warning of significant risks for health.
Spain’s weather service Amet said that the temperature could reach 44C (111.2F) in Sevile and Cordoba, while southern Portugal can also reach 44C.
In Spain, the employee of a horse riding center died after suffering from severe burning in trace cantos near Madrid, where more than 70 km/h (43Mph) winds drove the flames near the houses, forcing hundreds to flee.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez posted on X on Tuesday and said the rescue services are “tireless efforts to extinguish the fire”.
“We are at high risk of wildfire. Please be very cautious,” he said.
In Castle and Leon in the northwestern region of Spain, about 4,000 people were vacated and reported over 30 blazes-UNESCO-Las Las Medulus was threatened with one, which is famous for ancient gold mines.
Another 2,000 people were evacuated from hotels and houses near Tourifa tourist hotspots in Southern region Andalusia.
Spain’s National Military Emergency Unit on Tuesday morning said that about 1,000 soldiers were deployed to fight wildfire across the country.
In the neighboring Portugal, firefighters on Tuesday fought the most serious, three big wildfires near Trancoso vested in the center of the country.
More than 1,300 firefighters and 14 aircraft were deployed, Morocco sent two aircraft after the breakdown of the Portuguese water bombers, the Reuters said. Officials warned that 44 C could be hit in the southern regions, the temperature is not expected to take a dip below 25C.
A child died of heatstroke in Italy on Monday, where the temperature of 40C is expected to be hit later this week. There were red heat alerts for 16 cities including Rome, Milan and Florence.
Medical officials told the AFP that a four -year -old Romanian boy, who was found unconscious in a car in Sardinia, was taken to a hospital in Rome, but died due to irreversible brain damage, allegedly due to heatstroke, medical authorities told the AFP.
About three-fourths France is subject to heat alert, with the top 36C in the Paris region and 40C in the Raun Valley.
French Health Minister Catherine Watrin said that in a few weeks, hospitals were hung for decline from the country’s second hetave.
