Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami has been ordered to pay a alimony to his wife Hasin Jahhan by the Calcutta High Court. 4 lakhs per month, including maintenance of the couple’s daughter.
This is an important collision 1.30 lakhs per month ( 50,000 more for jahan 80,000 for his daughter) was ordered to be paid by a district court in 2023.
Hasin Jahan had originally sought Total 10 lakhs, 7 lakhs for yourself and 3 lakhs for their daughter, but the lower court rejected her request.
Why did Mohammed Shami have made a high order to pay higher alimony and maintenance to Hasin Jahn?
In his appeal, Hasin Jahn’s legal counsel argued that Mohammed Shami’s financial conditions could support a high alimony. According to his income tax return for the financial year 2021, Shami’s annual income was almost 7.19 crore, or surrounding 60 million per month. Jahn claimed his joint monthly expenses, including his daughter 6 lakhs.
The judge explained that the figure of Shami’s earnings, her daughter’s future and lifestyle were enjoyed by her prestigious wife, Hasin Jaan, before two parts.
“Inverse party/husband’s income, financial disclosure and earnings established that it is in a position to pay a high amount. The petitioner wife, who has been unmarried and living independently with the child, deserves a level maintenance, which she has enjoyed during marriage and also protects her as a judge along with the future.
The bench said that while the question of excessive amount of alimony and maintenance does not arise, it cannot accept a lobol figure, keeping in mind Shami’s income.
Mohammed Shami married Hasin Jahhan in 2014, but in 2018 the pair separated when Jahan accused her husband and family of domestic violence and misconduct.
