Alex Freeman has recently been asked about Antonio Freeman – in which NFL is what his father’s favorite attraction is since days.
Small Freemans easily respond, saying that this is his father’s famous game-winning catch, which is in overtime in football since 2000, even the play-play-play-play-play-announcer Al Michaels “what did he do?” In mistrust.
“Very, Packers is very important for fans,” said Freeman.
But Alex is also making its impression – it is just on a different type of area.
At the age of 20, the Freeman is the youngest player in the US Men’s National Team Roster in the 2025 ConcacAF Gold Cup. He has already started all three games in Right-Back for the US, helping the team reach the quarter-finals of the tournament. And they were nominated this week
This USMNT team is remembering several major stars in the Gold Cup for various reasons. Relax from a long season. Injuries. FIFA clubs are running in the World Cup. But this growing talents like Freeman have been given the opportunity to make a major impression on American manager Maurisio Pochato.
So, who is Alex Freeman? Here what he had to say about his burial football career, his dream about reaching the World Cup-and yes, his super bowled father.
What was this to get your first USMNT call-up, and is it to be something important as a gold cup?
Alex Freeman: it means a lot. I think this is something that is very important for America, for the team and for itself. Representing and representing the country in this high-level tournament is an honor. This is just something that pushes all of us in training and especially in sports, to be able to win and try to get a trophy.
Did you expect to be on this roster or was you surprised?
Freeman: I would say that I was surprised. I was grateful to be just [60-man] Early roster. Knowing that I was selected for the last roster, I was a great surprise for me and something for which I am always grateful.

What has been the experience of USMNT camp and tournament for you so far?
Freeman: It is good to know all people. We have a good group here, but also only in practice is capable of creating chemistry with these people and everything like this. This is something you know, going to this camp that I really wanted to do, was able to know the stories of people, where they come from and all that. And it has been good till now.
Do you expect that you will start and be playing at this point?
Freeman: When I came in, I was just going to work and see what Pchethino wanted and how could I fit her game style. I didn’t think I was going to play it, but I just have to show [what I can do] When I am on the field and just take my opportunities and show him why I am worth going to the first place.
What is your favorite highlight from your father and how many times have you seen it?
Freeman: (Laughing) My favorite highlight is probably the Mande Night Football Catch when he is on the ground and [the ball] Hits his shoulder and he catches it and gets up and scores the winning touchdown. It was a rivalry game [against the Vikings]So it was something that was very important for green bay fans.
When I was a child, I will see that time. I will see ‘Top 10 Catch’ and it will always be. This was just a big moment for him and something that I praise.
What is your father’s favorite attraction of your career and how many times has he seen it?
Freeman: This is probably when I made my first debut [at Orlando] And scored a goal against Toronto. He has a complete video of himself which he recorded and it is very popular. I think you can just tell you in that moment that he was excited and happy. I saw him after the game and he could not really believe it. I feel that he will be a moment that he will remember forever.
Was it difficult to break your father that you were going to play footbol and not the same football he played?
Freeman: It was not difficult to tell him because he just wanted to do something that I was emotional and could be able to excel on something. When I was younger, I played all the games and when the time came, I chose [soccer] And I think he was supporting me all the time.
Obviously, it’s strange to tell your father, who played another game, which you want to play [a different sport]But I think at the end of the day, they accepted it and just supported me.
How close are you guys? Does it come in all your games?
Freeman: He has gone to all sports in Gold Cup and I think he is also coming to the game in Dallas. He is just making it his small holiday. But yes, he is very helpful. Even in Orlando, he comes in a lot of sports.
Who else is part of the support system that comes in your games?
Freeman: I have a lot. My mother, my stepland, and then I have two younger brothers and I think they are really what I play the most because they are what they see as an example. And I think for them, it is just able to be that good role model.
[Tyler, 15, and Josh, 13] Both are also football players and just want to do what I am doing. So just they want to pass in the right direction or to be able to guide them in any direction.
They think if you are playing for USMNT is great?
Freeman: Yes, yes. Whenever I go home, I see them playing and they tell all their friends [about my career]It is good that they are capable of hitting me a little (laughing) about me.

Who are the best people you get through your father?
Freeman: I have met a lot of calm people through him. The most notable one would say that Scotty is Pippain. When I was younger, I was a big basketball fan, so it was really pleasant to see him.
When did you realize that your father was a super bowl winner wide receiver?
Freeman: When I was younger you will hear about it, but you do not really understand it completely. I think I used to understand it when I was in middle school. Like the sixth grade, I actually started researching my father – it’s fun. I realized how inspiring it was not only in Wisconsin, but in general. And so I think when I really realized how much he had on sports and green bay.
Are Packers your favorite team?
Freeman: Yes, Packers are my favorite team. But my second favorite team is probably steeler because my stepdad is a big steeler fan.
Who was the first person you called or recited when you came to know that you have created a roster?
Freeman: My mother [Rochelle],
What do you like to do when you are not playing football? Any calm or unique hobby?
Freeman: I am doing a lot in golf. And I like to read. Right now i’m reading this book ‘Win the day’ [by Mark Batterson]This is about being your best self.
What is your pre-game food?
Freeman: Pasta and chicken. This is a necessary.
The American women’s national team likes to go to Tiktok during the training camp. Is this something that this small USMNT group also does?
Freeman: We do not really post, but we are a type to see a trend on Tikkok and do it. We will do very little jokes about it or such items. But dance and posting, it is not really the group that does so.
What would be the next year to be in the US World Cup roster?
Freeman: This will mean the world for me. This is what every child dreams. And I think this is something that everyone wants to do and be able to reach there. And so now, it is just about keeping your head down and putting in the extra work that is able to show the coaches here and show the world that you are ready to compete against the best at that level.
