There is no reason to remain in fear of Americans as President Donald Trump asked the National Guard soldiers to address the crime in other cities, as if they are in Washington, the White House insists.
While Illinois leaders, including the village JB Pritzkar, have made it clear that they are not interested in achieving the National Guard soldiers in Chicago, the White House said it would welcome requests from Republican and Democratic leaders for additional law enforcement support to reduce crime in American cities.
“This is our message for Americans in cities run by Democrats: Decision is an option,” the White House press secretary Karolin Lewit told reporters on Thursday. “You don’t have to be in constant fear of robbing, rape or murder. Your leaders are lying to you, and they have been failing you for decades.

“Governor Pritzkar should spend less time in less time, more time is trying to recruit more police and more time is trying to call the United States President to get a crime in his city,” Levitt said. “The President wants to allow law enforcement, even if the state, local, federal, to do their work, to arrest criminals, to keep them behind bars and to overcome public safety threats from American communities. He will continue to do so.”
Pritzker, a Democrat, who did not refuse to run for the President in 2028, has pushed back against the possibility of the National Guard soldiers who arrived in Chicago to address the crime and said on Monday that the step would be “unconstitutional” and “United Nations-Emergi”.
“Donald Trump wants to use the army to capture an American city, punish his disgruntled and score political points,” Pritjkar said. “If this was happening in any other country, we will not have any problem in saying what it is – grab a dangerous power.”

Meanwhile, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said in a statement on Friday that the crime is low in Chicago and said that the city has decreased by more than 30%in the last one year, 35%of dacoits and about 40%in shooting.
But the White House continued to point out local reports that Chicago has been the most murdered in any American city for the last 13 years, as the most recent 2024 data.
“For 13 consecutive years, Chicago has been the most murdered in any American city,” Levitt said on Thursday. “This is the legacy of JB Pritjkar, by the way.”

“They should put politics aside,” said Lewit. “They should pick up the phone and call this President, who will be happy to correct the law to American residents in the city of Chicago. And we hope he will do it.”
Chicago does not have the most per capita murders and the compilation of 2024 FBI data is not listed in the top five cities for per capita murder.
Trump revealed the schemes on August 11 to raise soldiers from DC National Guard and to make the metropolitan police department federal to address crime in the country’s capital. Since then, Trump has indicated that he may send National Guard soldiers to other cities of the US including Chicago.
“We go in, we will solve Chicago within a week, perhaps low,” Trump told reporters on Monday morning. “But within a week we will not have any crime in Chicago, such as no crime in DC”
