Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelanski on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his heartiest greetings on Ukraine’s Independence Day and underlined Kiev’s hope for India’s role in ending the ongoing struggle.Zelancesi said in a post on X, “For hot greetings on Ukraine’s Independence Day, Prime Minister @narendramodi, we appreciate India’s dedication to peace and dialogue.”He said, “Now, as the whole world tries to end this terrible war with dignity and permanent peace, we rely on India’s contribution. Every decision that strengthens diplomacy leads not only in Europe, but also Indo-Pacific and beyond that leads to better security.”Along with his message, Zelansky also shared the letter of Prime Minister Modi addressed to him. In the letter, PM Modi greeted the people of Ukraine and recalled his journey to Kiev last year.“I take this opportunity to expand your greetings to you and the people of Ukraine on the occasion of my Independence Day. I remember Kiev’s journey warmly in August last year, and since then India-Ukraine pay attention to progress in bilateral relations. I am ready to work with you to strengthen your mutual profitable cooperation.”Reiterating India’s frequent stance, the Prime Minister said, “India is always standing in favor of peace. India is committed to expanding all possible supports for honest efforts seeking initial, following and peaceful resolutions of conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.” He also expressed his wishes for Zelanceci’s health and welfare.Congratulations were exchanged with Kiev amidst the increasing diplomatic engagement of New Delhi. Ukrainian Ambassador Oleksandra Polishchuk has recently confirmed that PM Modi has invited President Zelanski to visit India, both sides have worked on finalizing the last dates. The messenger praised India’s position, saying that New Delhi is “not neutral” but strongly supports peace and dialogue.Outreach follows the earlier exchange on India’s Independence Day when Zelansky hoped that India would contribute to global peace efforts and would highlight opportunities for bilateral cooperation in business, technology and culture.The two leaders, through their messages, emphasized dialogue, diplomacy, and strengthened bilateral relations, confirming the importance of a peaceful resolution for war.
