New Delhi: In a fierce address in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar launched a prick, thin veil attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Jaishankar branded him “China-Guru” and accused him of receiving his knowledge of Beijing through “Olympic inviting and private tuition from Chinese diplomats”.The Foreign Minister defended his recent visit to China, hitting the allegations that he had not done enough on China’s front, saying he did not have “secret meetings or deals” contrary to those taking “China tuition” during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He said, “Some people went to the Olympics there and gained knowledge of China. But, they met not only the Chinese, but also others,” he said, Rahul and Sonia Gandhi, in a clear jib, who attended the event as a special invitation in the event. Jaishankar said, “But now there are ‘China-Gurus’ and one head is sitting with me, whose affection is so great for China that he signed a deal between India and China-‘Chhindhia’,” Jaishankar said referring to a word coined by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh. The minister said that he had spent 41 years in Foreign Service and served as India’s longest serving ambassador to China, but still faced allegations of protest against Beijing. He said, “I could have some shortcomings on China, because I did not get China teaching by going to China Olympics, because I was not invited and not a special person,” he made fast comments.Jaishankar blew Rahul on China-Pak Nexus He alleged that cooperation between Pakistan and China had started in the 1960s, but the previous Indian governments failed to function decisively. “This ‘China Guru’ says that China and Pakistan have come very close, which is reality. He said that when we leave Poke, they came together. Jaishankar dismissed the opposition’s concerns over national security and reminded the control of the Hambentota port of Sri Lanka of the House of China, a strategic loss, he said, which happened during the tenure of the UPA government. “China-Guru gives us lectures on China, they should understand that it happened during their era,” he said. On my recent visit to China, Jaishankar said, “Whatever I did and discussed that I was open public. I discussed D-System and I discussed the restrictions on trade, which China has put. “Unlike some other people, I did not hold any secret meetings, I did not do any secret deals. Only the Olympic people did, only China-Gurus do such things and normal people do not,” the minister said according to the news agency PTI.
