New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) said on Friday that it prefers to ignore Rahul Gandhi’s baseless allegations of “vote theft” and has asked all the poll authorities to continue working in a fair and transparent manner, which is surprised by his frequent threats and “disappointing” statements. In a post on X, the Commission said it was unfortunate that Rahul was stopping unfounded allegations on EC and pole authorities and repeatedly threatening them through media statements with irresponsible phrases like ‘Vote Chori’, “a year later after the conclusion of the Lok Sabha Poll”. He said that neither Rahul nor the Congress took advantage of the options available under the law, such as an ERO incorrectly include or an appeal against the boycott of voters or by filing an election petition within election time to challenge an election or election (45 days later). The EC said it had sent a mail to Rahul Gandhi on 12 June when he accused irregularities in a newspaper article in Maharashtra elections. He was asked to write the EC directly or meet the panel, but he did not reply. Interestingly, any of the allegations made by Rahul in his article, or any other complaint by Rahul has been directly informed to EC. “It is very strange and disappointing that he is making wild allegations and still started threatening the EC and its employees,” the EC said.In the post on X, the Commission underlined that when Rahul Gandhi was attacking the EC on the alleged “vote theft” during the Lok Sabha poll in Karnataka, the fact is that the election role was prepared by 31 district election officials, 419 election registration officers (EROS) and Assistant Eros and 58,834 booth level officials.
