Wildcard Victoria Maboko won his first WTA title from behind by defeating four -time Grand Slam Champion Naomi Osaka in the Canadian Open final.
For the second serial match, 18-year-old Canadian had to show flexibility after accepting the initial set, but won 2-6 6–4 6–1.
MBoko started the year 333 in the world, but is expected to grow by 34 after a win, which pleased the crowd of his house.
“I was Super Happy to play in Montreal for the first time. I remember I just feel nervous, but actually taking as much as possible in that moment.”
“When I won my first round, I was a super happy and super content. I would never have thought that I would have made it in the final, let it win the tournament alone.
“I have a lot of feelings that are passing through my head, I can’t even express it.”
MBoko defeated four Grand Slam Champion N Marg to collect the title in front of 11,000 spectators.
