Prior to the match, British number two Nori said he was “anything ready” from the seventh seed Djokovic – including looking at his rival struggle with fitness issues before re -achieving his level.
However, World No. 35 was still not able to drag Djokovic into a fierce physical exchange because he expected.
Nori briefly threatened to give a blow when he made a quick break up in the third set.
But Djokovic hit back immediately – helped kill a dual mistake by his opponent at a break point – before gaining control with an accurate serving game which the nori that failed to a lot of trouble.
Djokovic became the oldest person to reach the US Open Round since Jomi Contens, who was also 38 years old in 1991.
“I am still trying to find my drain. Today I have played the best in the tournament so far,” Djokovic said.
On his fitness, he said: “You have some ups and downs, but you don’t want to reveal too much for your rivals. I am equally young and strong as usual.”
