A controversial assistance operation for Gaza supported by Israel and the US says that two workers were injured in an attack giving relief.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) said the two militants threw grenades at the aid center at Khan Unis. This convicted Hamas for the Saturday incident.
The injured American workers are in a stable position and receive medical treatment. The group added.
GHF began its operations in May, distributing assistance from several sites in southern and central Gaza. This system has been widely criticized to force the vast number of people to run through the combat zone.
The United Nations and local doctors say that since the GHF was launched, the Israeli forces killed more than 400 Palestinians trying to collect food aid. Israel says that the new distribution system prevents the assistance to Hamas.
The attack comes when Hamas has indicated that it is ready to negotiate a ceasefire with Israel.
The GHF stated that the incident “took place at the conclusion of an otherwise successful distribution in which thousands of ghazans got food safely”.
The organization stated that it was “repeatedly warned of reliable threats from Hamas”, which included a plan to target American personnel, Palestinian aid workers and citizens.
Hamas has not commented on the incident.
Meanwhile, Gaza’s Civil Defense Agency said 32 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli military operations on Saturday.
On Friday, Hamas said it was ready for more conversation Inheritance Put forward by America.
The scheme is believed to have been included in instead of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails, the Chowkidar release of the Israeli hostages.
The BBC understands that Hamas wants amendment to the draft, including the US guarantee that the enmity will resume when the ceasefire ends.
Hamas also wants the GHF to be scraped and distributed only by the United Nations and its partners. Israel has previously rejected such demands.
Fifty hostages in Gaza are still being held, of which at least 20 are considered alive.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 70 people have been killed in the region by Israeli soldiers in the last 24 hours.
The ministry said that the total death in Gaza has increased to 57,338 during the Israeli war against toll Hamas.
The Israeli army launched its campaign on 7 October 2023 in response to Hamas attacks, killing around 1,200 people and 251 others were taken hostage.
