New Delhi: The Ministry of Road Transport has urged all driving license (DL) holders and registered vehicle owners to add or update their mobile numbers for both DL and registered vehicles through the Aadhaar certification process. Sources said that it would be a pre-need to avail services related to any transport and driving license.The ministry has said that people can update or add details by visiting the gathering and Sarathi portals. “This will help them to ensure that the details are full, accurate and updated. Online facility is provided to update the mobile number on the portal,” it is mentioned. State Transport Departments are also sending messages to DL holders and vehicle owners who urge them to update the details.Both the Center and State Transport Departments have taken steps to curb vehicle owners and drivers that change to replace the phone numbers and addresses. Sources said that the government can also bring a new rule to make it mandatory to update its address (Aadhaar).
