After 38 months of silence, legal obstacles and grief, the board members of the Ulde CISD unanimously voted in favor of releasing a record from horrific mass shoots at Rob Elementary.
The board’s vote follows a recent decision of the fourth court of appeals in favor of several news outlets, which requested both school and county records about the widely criticized response from law enforcement during the 2022 massacre, which claimed the lives of 19 children and two teachers.
County Commissioner Ronald Garza demanded that the board leave the appeal and release the records, the court ruled for the families during the open platform.

“It is about to ensure what happens to my daughter, never happens to another child,” said Caizares. “I am demanding truth here today. All of you gave Jackie, her classmates, her teachers.”

The board collectively apologized, and many members expressed repentance to their former inaction, showing institutional changes, not only compliance.

Erica Munoz said that for joining the board, its reason was required to rebuild trust through transparency and compassion.

Berinda Isola urged that his treatment begins when the record is released.
“There is nothing in the records that can hurt us more than the pain we have already tolerated,” Isola said.
Board Secretary Jesse Rizo, who lost a niece in the tragedy, apologized during the meeting, saying, “I am sorry that it took so much time. I am sorry that we have failed you.”
