The Russian ambassador to the UK is to be called to the Foreign Office, after Moscow’s major attacks on Kiev overnight.
According to Ukrainian officials, at least 17 people, including four children, were killed in a wave of attacks in the capital of Ukraine. The British Council’s offices were “severely damaged,” the organization said.
Andrei Kelin is expected to meet Foreign Office officials – not a minister – when he comes.
In a post on X, Foreign Secretary David Lami confirmed that Mr. Kelin was called, and “should stop murder and destruction” was added.
The British Council, which works to promote cultural relations between the UK and other countries, said a guard working in his office was injured in the attack and was being treated in the hospital for injuries.
A statement said: “After last night attack on Kiev, our British Council office has been severely damaged and will be closed to visitors until next notice.
“While our reactions may be delayed, our work is going on with our Ukrainian partners in education and culture.”
Lemy condemned the attack and said: “Putin Strike killed citizens last night, destroyed houses and destroyed buildings, including the British Council and the European Union delegation.”
Kaja Kalas, head of BLOC’s foreign policy, has said that the European Union will also call its Russian messenger on Moscow’s strike.
The overnight attacks killed the block offices in Kiev, causing damage to the building but the employees did not get any injuries.
Kalas said that the attack has revealed that Russia has made a deliberate option to “pursue peace efforts and make fun of it.”
The Prime Minister Kir Stmper has accused Russia of “sabotaging hopes of peace”, which is with its “insensitive” attacks.
