In a Wednesday statement, Uber said that female customers would see an alternative called “female driver” in the app. If the waiting time for a female driver is longer than the time they want, they can choose another ride – possibly with a male driver – for a sharp pickup, the company said.
Uber said in his statement, “In the US, women riders and drivers have told us that they want to match other women on the journey.”
However, long waiting time can be an issue for women who want to raise by a woman driver, given that Uber Where is 1 out of 5 drivers are women. Customers can also pre-book with women drivers, the company said on Wednesday.
A Uber spokesperson said, “During this pilot we expect to learn more about this. The riders may experience a long waiting time if the female driver is unavailable or away. If so, they can wait, they can reserve a ride with a female driver for a later time, or can choose a ride with any available driver, who can not eat a ride,” The spokesperson of the CBS said in an email for Manivatch.
Riders can also determine a priority for female drivers in their Uber settings, which will promote the possibility of connecting with a female driver, although such a match is not guaranteed, the company said.
Similarly, women who are Uber drivers can also request visits with female riders, including the company said during peak hours when they can earn more, the company said. Female drivers can tolerate the “women’s rider priority” option in their app settings to pair with female customers.
Uber has offered similar programs in other countries, giving women the right to drive in that country, rolling their “women’s rider priority” in Saudi Arabia in 2019. The company said, “Since then, the feature has expanded in 40 countries, which has completed more than 100 million trips.”
