The British High Street Bank TSB is being sold by its Spanish-owner to the rival Santhender up to £ 2.9bn.
Sales are still to be agreed by Sabdale shareholders, but if TSB changes hands, this will be the second time when it has been sold in a decade.
The Centrender refused to comment on whether the TSB brand – which could detect its roots for more than 200 years – will remain.
The TSB has 175 branches in the UK while Sentnder has around 349 banks in the UK, but it is shutting down the branches, saying that more customers want to digitize their banking digitally.
