US President Donald Trump has said that Israel has agreed to “essential conditions” to finalize the 60-day ceasefire in Gaza.
During the proposed deal, “We will work with all sides to end war”, Trump said in a post on the truth, without expanding what are the conditions.
“The people of Katris and Egypt, who have worked hard to help bring peace, will distribute this final proposal. I hope that Hamas takes the deal, because it will not be better – it will only be worse,” Trump wrote.
Israel launched a military operation in Gaza after Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack, killing around 1,200 people. According to the Hamas-Interested Health Ministry of the region, at least 56,647 have been killed in Gaza since then.
It was not immediately clear whether Hamas would accept the terms of the ceasefire or not.
Trump’s announcement came before a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, set for next week, stating that he would be “very firm”.
The US President said on Tuesday that he believes that Netanyahu wants to end enmity in Gaza.
“He wants. I can tell you that he wants. I think we will do a deal next week,” said Trump.
On Tuesday, Israeli’s strategic affairs minister Ron Dermer, Middle East Steve Witcoff, US Secretary Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance in Washington were due to meeting American Special Envoy for JD Vance.
Last week, a senior Hamas official said that the BBC mediators have increased the broker’s efforts on a new ceasefire and hostage release deal in Gaza, but the conversation with Israel has stalled.
Israel has said that the conflict can only end when Hamas is completely finished. Hamas has long called a permanent Trus and a complete Israeli return from Gaza.
About 50 Israeli hostages are still in Gaza, of which at least 20 are considered alive.
Trump’s comments Come shortly after Israel ordered the withdrawal of withdrawal before military action at North Gaza. According to Medics and Eyewitnesses, at least 20 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on an Israeli air strike on a Cefront Cafe in Gaza city on Monday.
This week the Israeli Army also said that it was telling citizens about “loss” for “damage”, contacting the aid distribution centers in Gaza operated by the US- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanist Foundation (GHF).
More than 170 donations and other NGOs have called for the closure of the controversial group. Organizations such as Oxfam and Save the Children say that the Israeli forces sought aid to the open fire “regularly” on the Palestinians.
Israel denies the allegation and states that organization is required to bypass Hamas’s intervention in assistance distribution.
In March, a previous ceasefire deal fell when Israel started a fresh attack on Gaza. The Israeli military described the action as “pre-Khali attacks … based on Hamas’s readiness to execute terrorist attacks, create force and re-form hands”.
The previous ceasefire between Israel and Hamas – which began on January 19 – was established for three phases, but was not built before the first phase.
Stage 2 includes the establishment of a permanent ceasefire, the return of the remaining hostages in Gaza in exchange for the Palestinians imprisoned in Israel and the complete return of the Israeli forces from Gaza.
