US President Donald Trump and Federal Reserve President Jerome Powell exchanged frosty words during the public visit to the Federal Reserve’s $ 2.5 billion renovation project. The pair met reporters and disagreed about the project schedule and cost.
This was his first public meeting since Trump criticized Trump and Federal Reserve to deny low interest rates.
At the exchange, the President jokingly said that he would “love” Powell for low interest rates – draw some mild laughter from reporters and Powell – the next rate -setting meeting less than a week before where policy makers are expected to keep interest rates stable.
Former President George W. Bush marked Trump’s visit as a sitting President for a sitting president after attending the swearing -in of Ben Bernanke in 2006.
