President Donald Trump revealed how he planned to contact his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.
Trump appeared on Thursday for a radio interview on “Brian Kilmede Show”, told hosts Brian Kilmede that his conversation with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelansky is “like chess”.
Trump estimated that his meeting with Putin in Alaska is “25% of a lump sum failure, but he said that hope is to push for a second meeting between Putin and Zelanski.
“The meeting establishes the second meeting,” Trump told Kilmede.
He argued that the second meeting would be “extremely important”, and indicated that the land swap would be likely to negotiate, an assumption by Zelanski protested.

Trump said that he believes that he would know very soon on Friday whether Putin intends to cooperate.
“I am confident that he is now convinced that he is going to do a deal. He is going to do a deal. I think he is leaving. And we’re going to find out – I will know very soon,” said Trump.

Trump confirmed that he would proceed with a suit of sanctions against Russia if Putin would not proceed with peace talks.

“The results will be,” Trump told reporters on Wednesday. “I don’t have to say. There will be very serious consequences.”

Meanwhile, Zelancesi on Wednesday reduced the expectations around the meeting, stating that he sees “no sign” that Russia is preparing to end the war in Ukraine.

“Currently, there is no indication that the Russian war is preparing to end. Our coordinated efforts and joint action – Ukraine, the United States, Europe and all countries that want peace – can surely force Russia to make peace,” Zalensky said on X.
