President Donald Trump is set to hold a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin for a historic summit on Friday at Alaska.
The President will travel to Aankorez, Alaska on Friday morning for the meeting, which is somewhat similar to both Washington, DC and Moscow. The United States bought Alaska from Russia in 1867.
The high-stake meeting is the first US-Russia Summit since June 2021, which was under the administration of former President Joe Biden. Putin came to this summit just eight months before attacking Ukraine.
What do we know about Trump’s meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska
Trump has described the dialogue as a “feel-out meeting” and clarified that his top priority must determine whether a ceasefire is possible in Ukraine. Trump predicted earlier this week that he would be able to do that determination within the first “two minutes”.

“I am not going to do a deal. It’s not to make a deal for me,” Trump said. “I think a deal should be signed for both both (Putin and Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelancesi).”
“I would like to see a ceasefire,” Trump continued. “I want to see the best deal that can be made for both sides. You know, it takes into two tango.”
However, the President threatened “very serious consequences” for Russia, if Putin does not agree to end the war after Friday’s meeting. Additionally, while all eyes are on the summit between Trump and Putin, Trump said “more important meeting will be the second meeting we are doing.”
“We are going to have a meeting with President Putin, President Zelanski, ourselves, and perhaps we will bring some European leaders – maybe not … it’s going to be very important.”
“We are going to see what happens,” Trump continued. “And I think President Putin will create peace.”
A day before the summit, Trump predicted that his meeting with Putin had a 25% chance of failing outright, but he said to push for a second meeting between Hope Putin and Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelanski.

“The meeting establishes the second meeting,” Trump told Brian Kilmede of Fox News, stating that the second meeting would be “extremely important,” and indicated that there would probably be a conversation on the land swap, a perception has opposed a perception.
Can Trump’s meeting with Putin be the next Reagan-Gorbachev moment?
Zelansky is not part of Friday’s summit. White House press secretary Karolin Lewitt said that Trump agreed to meet at Putin’s request.
Recently, in the press briefing of the White House, Lewitt said, “The goal of this meeting for the President is to run with a better understanding of how we can end this war.” “I think the United States President is getting in the room with the President of Russia, instead of speaking on the telephone, this President will give the best indication to end this war and where it is.”
However, Zelancesi has said that any decision to end the war without Ukraine would be impossible.
Zelancesi repeatedly said that he is open to a meeting with Putin directly to end the war, although Putin has refused so far.

Putin praises Trump’s ‘honest’ peace attempts, indicating potential American-Russian nuclear deal
Zelansky said in a statement on Saturday, “Any decisions made against us, any decision made without Ukraine – are taking decisions against peace.” “These are dead decisions; they will never work. And we all need a real, living peace, one that people will respect.”
However, as of Wednesday recently, Zelancesi stated that “there is no sign” Russia is preparing to end the war.
The Ukrainian leader wrote on X on Wednesday, “This war should be abolished. Just pressing Russia for peace. The experience of Ukraine and our colleagues should be used by Russia to prevent deception.”
“Currently, there is no indication that Russia is preparing to end the war,” he said. “Our coordinated efforts and joint action – Ukraine, the United States, Europe and all countries that want peace – can definitely force Russia to make peace.”
Ahead of Trump-Putin meeting, Zelansky says that ‘there is no sign’ Russia wants to end the war
Zelansky recently wrote on X, “The route for peace for Ukraine must be determined together with Ukraine – this is fundamental.”
“It is important that the joint approach and a shared vision works towards real peace. A consolidated position. Conflict stop. End of capture. The end of the war,” he also said.

This week, Zelancesi also said that he discussed the possibility of organizing high-level talks organized by Turkey, which has hosted previous diplomatic talks that failed to secure any permanent ceasefire agreements, but thousands of Ukrainians and Russian prisoners have been released to war prisoners.
“We are ready for any format of the meeting aimed at stopping the murders and ending the war,” said Zelenaksi. “President Erdogan confirmed his country’s readiness to organize a summit of leaders from Ukraine, United States, Russia and Türkiye.”
Putin, however, praised Trump for “honest efforts” to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, stating that the US was “making quite energetic and honest efforts to prevent hostility, preventing the crisis and reaching the interest of interest for all parties involved in this conflict,” According to Rooters.
Putin allegedly mentioned the possible future of the future “Agreements in the field of strategic aggressive weapons”.

Russia and America hold the world’s largest nuclear weapon arsenal and they have a limit to limiting the number of weapons, which is determined to end in February, increasing the high pressure in upcoming dialogues. The new strategic weapons shortage treaty include strategic nuclear weapons and according to the Reuters, the number of warheads stationed at 1,550 on each side is capted.
In recent weeks, there has already been some nuclear tension between the two countries, as Trump ordered two nuclear submarines that the former President of the country made “highly stimulating statements”. Kremlin reduced the move, but according to Reuters, warned all the aspects about nuclear rhetoric to be “very, very careful”.
Meanwhile, reporters pressurized Trump on Thursday, a day before the summit, whether their compromise to meet Putin could “reward” the Russian President for his attack on Ukraine.
Trump lured the question, and said: “No, I don’t think it’s a reward.”

“We have a situation that should never have started – it should never have started,” Trump said. “It did not start below me. And for four years, it was not discussed. And I could see that it was going to happen. After I left, I could see what was happening. Whatever we did was wrong, whatever was done was wrong. Was wrong. Everyone was guilty. Everyone blames Putin. They are all guilty.”
Trump said, “This war would never happen when I were President. If I were President, this war would never have happened.” “But millions of people have been killed and, I am there for a reason: to see if I can solve it. It was a Biden war.”
