The following is an interview transcript with Republican Rape Mike Lallor in New York, aired on 24 August, 2025 on “Face the Nation with Margaret Brain”.
Margaret Brainan: Welcome to face the nation. We now go to the Republican Congress Mike Laler of New York. Here is good for you, the Congressman, there is a lot with you, but I want to choose some such things discussing with the Governor of Maryland, and this redistribution, Germandering that is happening. The President encouraged the Texas Republican to do so. Now, California is trying to regain Democrats districts. Why do you strongly oppose it?
Rape. Mike Loller: I think the Gerimandering is fundamentally wrong, and it is in the heart of why the Congress has broken for so many years. If you see three decades ago, there were more than 100 competitive districts. Last November, only 35 seats were fixed for five points or less, and I was not one of them, despite the fact that Kamala Harris won my seat, I won six and a half points. So when you look at the map across the country, the fact is that about 400 members are not in competitive districts. They are mainly focused on primary and not on general elections, and therefore they are not focused on appealing for a very wide health of voters. And I think clearly reflects yourself when you are really trying to interact with law and beyond. But when you look at the situation of redistribution, obviously both sides do not have a clean hand. In New York, Democrats in New York revived the mid-decade of mid-decade at the behest of Hakim Jeffrees in 2024, who wanted to take seats in New York to become a speaker. After stacking the court, he germand the map and gave a favorable verdict, which is ordering the reconstruction of the mid -decade, despite the fact that he followed the map in 2022 and was thrown out of those because it violated the state’s constitution. So now the New York is going to the third bite in the apple, according to Governor Hosul, which has made it clear since taking over in 2021 that it will use redistribution to help the Democrats win the House. So this is what you are working with Red States and Blue States, which is currently trying to get electoral benefits.
Margaret Brainon: I think what is different now, the President’s direct participation is in it, which is interesting that you have a law to try to oppose some of it. Do you really feel that you can do this if the President of the United States does not want to do it?
Rape. Loller: Look, of course, this is going to be a fight, but this is something that I fundamentally believe that we need to improve. We need to ban nationwide Germandering. We need to ban the recitation of mid -decade. I want to include term limits as part of those reforms, as I fundamentally believe that when you have members of Congress like Chak Shumar, who are in the elected office since 1974, never worked outside the elected office. This is the time to go. You need a word range. You need overall improvement. So I am going to fight teeth and nails to complete it. Obviously, you know that both sides are going to have strong headwinds, because clearly, I do not think the two sides are interested in improving the functions of the Congress.
Margaret Brainon: No, they want a majority. Duration. However, on the question that we are also discussing with the governor is a crime. The President of the United States has mentioned that New York is another city that he wants to deploy National Guard soldiers. Do you think this is the best use of the federal taxpayer dollar, and are you comfortable with this happening in your state?
Rape. Loller: Crime has been a major problem in New York over the years, and Kathy Hosul and Albani and New York City Democrats have failed badly in dealing with the crime.
Margaret Brainon:- Do you want National Guard Troops?-,
Rape. Loller:- By the way, Kathy Hosul has gathered- Kathy Hosul has gathered the soldiers of the National Guard to go into the metro system due to crime in the metro system. So this has been done, obviously, with the aim of increasing resources and trying to stop crime. When you see the fact that in the city of New York, for example, 80% of gun crimes resulted in not guilty or prosecution, 80% of these individuals are left back to the road despite using guns in the commission of crime. If you look at Washington DC, 1.7% gun is the time of the prison time as a result of the culprits of the crime. So when democrats talk about gun violence, how do they not really want to sue and implement the law against criminals who are using guns in a crime commission?
[START CROSSTALK]
Margaret Brain:-No, but it is a local-
Rape. Loller:-This is a fundamental problem and why is it that the rate of murder-
Margaret Brainon:- This is a local issue that will need to be changed. But in terms of question on soldiers–
Rape. Loller:- No, but it’s not- no- but Margaret, that is why the rate of murder is so high-
Margaret Brainon: – You will be soldiers rather than FBI agents or ATF agents or DEA agents instead of soldiers. You do not want federal agents who are trained law enforcement officers in New York City. You will rather be a national guardman –
Rape. Lolar:- I want- I want all the above.-
Margaret Brainon: – Who has trained the police to train?
[END CROSSTALK]
Rape. Loller: No, no, no, do not put words in my mouth. All of the above, FBI, DEA, ATF. I met ATF a few weeks ago in my office, which was actually on the issue of prosecuting criminals using guns in the commission of criminals and criminals. I was proud to lead a general knowledge of the gun safety law enacted in the law in the 1980s, leading the passage of a general knowledge, the passage of bipartisan pieces last year. We extended to seven years to ensure that no gun is constructed or sold with less metal than 3.7 ounces. I led that effort, and the reason I did by me is that we do not want guns on the road is being used in a crime commission, and yet, as I told, you see Washington DC, only 1.7% of guns have a prison time as a result of the guilty of gun crime. This is the reason why you have seen the rate of murder double in less than a decade. This is derogatory, and it is fine that the Presidents are in a rift over crime in major cities, and as we saw in California, it is legally authorized to do so.
Margaret Brainon: I want to ask you about something in the state of New York which matters. A good amount went to New York with that chips bill. On Friday, the White House announced how the government deal with the money that is dealt with the money that is to make the US independent of Asian computer chip construction and bring it back to the shore, wants to buy 10% stake in President Intel. The company says that it is now basically going to American taxpayers as a shareholder, 10%. As a conservative, do you think the government should have ownership bets in private companies?
Rape. Loller: Generally speaking, no, I think when you look at pre -history, when we have a bank bailout, when we have an auto bailout, you know, after market collapse and in ’08, the American taxpayer did not really return to it. I think what the President is trying to do is receiving returns on these tens of billions of billions of dollars, which are being invested by American taxpayers, by American taxpayers to manufacture chips in companies such as Intel. And so instead of only paying money, get returns on that investment. Obviously, this is a national security issue. We want to live under the control of the construction of semicircle and it is important for our foreign policy.
Margaret Brainon: Congressman, I am sorry to cut you. I am being told that I have to go on a commercial break, so I am going to leave it there. We will come back right.
