Tadej Pogacar is ready to win his fourth Tour Day France after defending his lead on the final mountain stage of this year’s race, as Thaimen Arsenman held a dramatic victory after a fierce climb to La Plagna.
Except for a notable turnaround, Pogkar would confirm his latest victory in Paris on Sunday, when he crossed the line with Jonas Winggard, accepting just two bonus seconds for his opponent.
The lead of Slovenian is in four minutes 24 seconds, with two significant flattery stages left.
In an epic conclusion in the final stages in the high mountains, the top four general classification riders pursued arsenman at 2,052 meters above sea level, but fell two seconds less than the Winggard Dutchman.
The 22 -year -old Britain’s Oscar only lost the touch in the last two kilometers, which would have a notable podium finish, allowing Florian Lipovitz to strengthen his grip on the third.
The organizers replaced Friday’s route due to a herd of diseased cattle on Colonel Des Sasies, reduced the distance of the platform from 130 km to 95 km and demolished two of the five planned classified mountains in the Alps.
The route still had two horsepower virgin climps – after dealing with the trio on Thursday’s queen stage – before ending La plagings with Colonel du.
