New Delhi: Opposition candidate for Vice President Post, Justice B. Sudarsen Reddy said on Tuesday that he accepted the candidature of India Block as an opportunity to promote the ideals of the Constitution – equality, fraternity, freedom and dignity – which have “very dear to them” for the last 55 years.Shortly after the protest, the opposition announced his candidature to contest elections against NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan, 79 -year -old Justice Reddy spoke to TOI and said that the ideal of the Constitution has been dear to him since December 1971, when he became a lawyer, and the bond became strong because he became a chief judge of HC, and then a judge became a judge.Asked why he admitted the candidature to know that he did not give any chance that there is a majority in the NDA, Justice Reddy said, “What is wrong in accepting it? India block represents 60% of the population of the country and talks about the ideals of the Constitution. As a lawyer, the government advocate, as a judge of HC and then an HC and SC Judge’s CJ, I was doing the same. ,“There is no doubt, the NDA has a majority. But in this election, no political party can issue a whip to its MPs. I will appeal to MPs in political parties to compare their credibility with the NDA candidate and vote according to their assessment as to who will be a better person to become a VP,” he said. When reported that it would boil for a political battle, he said, “I know about it. But canvasing, sharp differences and astonished for support and competition that is seen between the governing dispenses and opposition in the political field.” He said, “What the NDA group will do while seeking support for its candidate, is not in my hands. But there is going to be a decent and decent discourse to get this vote from my side,” he said.He was in a hurry to clarify that Radhakrishnan is also a dignified and civilized person and he did not expect any political “Tu Main Pisces” in the run for the expected election.
