The US government has named Cartel de Los Sols, a criminal group in Venezuela led by President Nicolas Maduro, a global terrorist organization.
According to a news release from the Treasury’s US department, Cartel de Los Sols, or Cartel of the Sons is being approved by the US to provide assistance to foreign terrorist organizations, including violent train de Argu and Sinaloa Cartel.
Treasury Secretary Scott Besent said in a statement, “Today’s action further exposes the convenience of illegitimate Maduro rule of narco-attitude through terrorist groups like Cartel de Los Sols.”

“The Treasury Department will continue the pledge of President Donald Trump, which pledges to tighten the US on violent organizations, including train de Aragua, Cinaloa Cartel and their facilities, such as Cartel de Los Sols.”

Venezuela gangs are involved in several criminal activities including train de Argu, human trafficking and illegal drug trade. According to the Treasury Department, Sinaloa Cartel, a violent and powerful Mexican Cartel, is responsible for smuggling drugs in the US.

In an X post, the Drug Enforcement Administration has written that it is demanding the leading information for the arrest and punishment of Maduro, Justice and Peace Diosdado Cabello Rondon and Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez.

In January, the US increased the reward of $ 25 million for the arrest and/or determination of Maduro. The US has not recognized Maduro as the chairman of Venezuela since 2019.

In May, the US advised citizens to avoid traveling to Venezuela and its borders.
