Rabi al Avwal will start in UAE on Monday, a day later compared to many other Arab countries, different start dates in countries for Islamic Months that play on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) birthdays
Chandra confirms the care Islamic month infection In UAE
The UAE’s Astronomy Center has confirmed that Crescent Moon, which marked the beginning of Rabi al -Avwal, was not seen on Saturday, 23 August. As a result, the current Islamic month of Safar will be completed 30 days, and Rabi al Avwal will officially begin on Monday, August 25, 1447 in Hijri calendar.Efforts to inspect the moon were conducted using a variety of equipment-which includes telescope and ultra-hai-resolution astronomical imaging-but on Saturday, Arabs remained a semi-chandelier invisible from all regions within the world. This astronomical observation also determines the date for the 12th day of Rabi al -avawal – an important date that marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In the UAE, it will fall on Friday, 5 September. Although no formal announcements have been made yet, this time can potentially lead to a three -day public holiday for residents, aligning with weekends.
Start dates in different countries

- Algeria
- Morocco
- Mauritania
- Iran
- Bangladesh
- India
- Singapore
- Brunei
- Malaysia

This deviation in the dates of the moon, although not unprecedented, reflects geographical and atmospheric variations affecting lunar visibility.
Moon view observation and conditions
Two days before the official confirmation, on Friday, August 22, astronomers at the Al-Khatim Astronomical Observatory managed to take a picture of the Crescent marking the end of the journey 1447A. Despite the dusty sky and partial cloud cover, the team captured the crisant – although the visibility remained limited, and the exact start of Rabi al -Avwal could not be decisively determined at that time. The UAE follows a systematic process to confirm the beginning of each Islamic month. On the 29th day of every Hijri month, the National Moon Visualing Committee calls to see and verify the presence of New Crescent. The Islamic (Hijri) calendar is perfectly based on the lunar chakras, and the beginning of each month is dependent on the first visible vision of Crescent Moon.
The importance of Rabi al -Avwal and its time
The third month in the Islamic calendar, Rabi al -Avwal, holds special significance in the Muslim world as it marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Prayers, community ceremonies and in some cases – are remembered with public holidays in many countries.Since the Hijri calendar is about 11 days less than in the Gregorian year, Islamic dates shift every year earlier. This dynamic nature adds complexity to religious observation plans and alignment, especially in countries that rely on accurate astronomical data rather than a pre-catering calendar.
