The shock of a fragmented right hand recovery of Houston Astro Slogon Yordon Alverez is not as serious as before fear, General Manager Dana Brown said on Thursday.
Alvarez, who was hurt on May 2, was closed after experiencing pain in his right hand. He took some swings at the team’s spring training complex in West Palm Beach, Florida on Monday and the area was around the neck when he reached there on Tuesday.
He was examined by an expert, who determined the inflammation that it was an issue and not a blow with fractures.
Before Houston’s game in Colorado, Brown said, “There was nothing to do with the fracture, or the fracture was not healing.” “The fracture at this point is a non-factory, about which we are very happy. And so during the process being examined by the expert, we saw the inflammation, and Yordon received two shots in the area.”
Alvarez first experienced issues with his hand in late April, but remained in lineups. He initially revealed a muscle tension, but a small fracture was discovered in late May.
Brown said no update on the timetable for the return of Alvarez, but stated with the latest update that “may be in the near future.”
“Yordon is going to be in a situation where he is going to rest and will let the shot be effective, and then he is starting to feel better, we will put a bat in his hand before killing, but we just let him feel,” Brown said. “And then we will get into some swings in the near future, but I felt that this is encouraging news. Now, with this injection, the swelling in that area, we feel much better.”
Alvarez, who has scored 34 domestic runs in the last four sessions, is only three in 29 matches this year and is batting. 210. He was 2021 Alcs MVP for Astro and finished third in Al MVP voting for 2022.
