Chandigarh, Punjab Police said on Thursday that it has detected an illegal opioid supply network with the arrest of six persons and seized tramdol bullets from their possession.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the Amritsar police discovered the traumadol supply chain, which originated from a small recovery of 35 bullets in Amritsar and led a manufacturing unit in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.
A local pedaler in Amritsar was successful after the arrest of Ravinder Singh alias Nickka.
While examining the backward and further linkage, the police seized 74,465 tramdol bullets, 50 alprazolam bullets, 325 kg raw materials, which is used for the construction of tramdol, and 7.69 lakh cash within just 15 days.
Yadav said that on the basis of sequential revelations and raids, six arrests were made, including the plant heads of chemists, distributors and lucent Biotech Limited.
Hari Kishore, Luisant Biotech, Rruki, Bikram’s plant manager, owner of recall life-sathi, Rurki, Manish Kumar Arora, Gadgadan Jatav, and Kulinder Singh alias Ki Kinta, Kathu were among the arrested persons in Nangal in Amritsar district.
The DGP said, “Seized strips bore ‘government supply not only for sale’, for tags, raise serious concerns about the illegal turn of medical stocks,” the DGP said.
The DGP said the criteria violating some major pharma units have been sealed and their records are being examined.
Sharing more information, Amritsar Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that a joint team of Amritsar police and drug inspectors raided some pharma units in Rurki, with 4,130 uncontrolled traumadol bullets and 325 kg unplike raw materials.
It was more than 70,000 tablets and in addition to earlier recovery 7.69 lakh cash, he said.
Bhullar said that during interrogation, Hari Kishore accepted the ‘Trakem-100’ tramadol tablet strips in the manufacturing unit to print government supply only on strips.
The accused also admitted that the tramples of tramdol built for another legal firm were sold illegally to remember lifestyle, Bhullar said.
More people involved in the racket have been identified and a raid is being conducted to arrest them.
