Mcilroy, who finished second at the last year’s Irish Open at the Royal County Down, admitted that he did not feel ready for the level of support received in Portrash in 2019 after trying to separate himself with enthusiasm around his first major presence at home.
The Hollywood natives began the championship disastrously, excluding his initial tea shot from the boundary as he posted a quadruple-bus eight in the first round of 79. He had an enthusiastic battle of another round, but cut half the way.
“I am very happy that it is back so soon because I want to keep another crack on it,” he told the BBC Sport.
“I did not have the week I wanted in 2019. I am a better player, manage my game better, and even if I have a day, it’s not going to be 79 as it was on the first day in 2019.”
And this week he says that he will not go away from meditation.
“I think I probably tried to isolate, and I think it is better for everyone if I embrace it.”
“I think it is better for me because it is able to accept adorable, even though I struggle with it many times. But it is also good for the person who is seeing you for the first time in a few years.
“It makes it just for a better conversation.”
