The Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintatus Palakas resigned on Thursday after a protest in the country’s capital on the investigation into his alleged business behavior.
“Gintatus Palakas called me this morning and informed me of his resignation,” Lithuanian President Gitanas Naus told reporters. Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT)Nausada also said that Palakas made the right choice and welcomed the decision.

The President’s advisor Fredericus Jansanas told reporters on July 24, “The President has asked the Prime Minister to either answer the questions raised by the people in the next two weeks or to seriously consider his further options as Prime Minister.”

According to the Associated Press, Palakas denied any wrongdoing and claimed that criticism is part of the “coordinated attack” by his political opponents.
