Interior US department announced on Saturday
According to the district of Columbia website, the previous encroachment policy was suggested that being homeless should be “rare, brief and non-recurring”.
It notes that the protocol for cleaning public places was triggered only when a site offers security, health or safety risks or if it interfere with community use.
Officials wrote on the website, “Keeping this in mind, we provide resources for shelter, housing for housing and provide access to behavioral health services to individuals at these places.”
