MacKenzie Gore staying put? The Yankees holding onto their prospects? Why have things been so quiet on the trade front so far?
Longtime MLB reporter Ken Rosenthal appeared on “The Herd” with Danny Parkins on Wednesday to discuss Thursday’s MLB trade deadline, and packed key updates on those subjects and more into his segment.
When asked by Parkins if we’d see a major splash of a deal involving an ace like the Nationals’ MacKenzie Gore, Rosenthal cut right to the chase.Â
“The Nationals have just changed general managers, they’ve hired an interim, Mike Debartolo, to replace Mike Rizzo. Are you going to let an interim general manager trade MacKenzie Gore?” Rosenthal continued, saying, “Now, MacKenzie Gore is at the same level of service [time] He was Juan Soto when he was traded by citizens in 2022. So from that point of view you can justify it, but a lot is going on with the citizens, a lot is in the flux, and I do not know that they are going to see it as the right time.
“He said, for what I am going to say,” they get the right proposal, they will do business. “

Sito is in the national flux after three years of trade, and deal with Gore – and still not in dispute again despite an excellent return from that trade – this means that if the gore is being transferred, it must be for the right return. Probably by a general manager who is going to be in charge for more than the next few months.
Parkins asked Rosanthal what we could expect from Yankis before Thursday’s deadline, and how active they would be. Rosanthal said that New York is already “already active” by receiving Ryan McMahon, Austin Slater and Amaid Rosario, but more to come. “They are going to add at least one reliever, most likely multiple relief. They will probably add an early pitcher in addition to all that.”
All this is being said, there is a limit or there is no possibility of going into the past on the deadline of this trade, and it includes their best possibilities. Rosanthal explained to Parkins, “The interesting thing about Yanki is that they do not want to trade any of their top possibilities.” “I don’t know that they see their team as worthy of that kind of game this year, and they also want to protect some of their top possibilities and keep them.
“But, they are going to compete, they do not see [Aaron] The injury to the judge, especially as severe, may have minimal time in the injured list. Therefore, they are going to be quite active, you are going to hear their name a lot in the next two days. ,
For the second team of New York, Mats, Rousinglle is expected to level the same level as aggression. “Mets believe that they certainly need bullpens help, the outfielder will be a possibility, the center fielder preferably.” Rosanthal has mentioned a trio of young players capable of handling the third base, which is on the Roster – Mark Vientos, Ronnie Mauricio and Brati Batty – and mention how New York has been linked to the White Sax Outfielder Luis Robert Junior, but Bulpen is their largest field, and perhaps a stor. ,
Last, Parkins wanted to know why things are so calm on the time limit, and what is the reason behind it. Rosanthal placed it at the feet of some teams selling it.
“A part of the problem here, what I can see is that some vendors – especially in Cleveland, along with Pittsburgh – to some extent – these teams have a reputation that it is not easy to deal with it. Now, it is coming from the buyers, and we are not closing them, we are not closed to them.
Will Guardians, Pirates or Twins get away from their prices before Thursday’s deadline, but Rosanthal feels that it means we will be less trade than the past of the season this year. It also does not help, that extended Postsen has teams wishing to catch teams, when they bend things around, a la 2024 tigers.
“There are still teams where we are not sure what they are going to do. Tampa Bay falls in that category, San Francisco We are not sure where they are going with it – they play late – the angels of Los Angeles, they are always unexpected.
“Obviously, it is not going to each of these teams in that way, but when you have a few percent chance of making a playoffs, it is difficult to accept.”
The MLB trade deadline is on ET at 6 pm on Thursday, 31 July.
