New Delhi India’s 11 -member delegation started the Border Coordination Conference with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Dhaka on Tuesday under the leadership of the Border Security Force (BSF) chief, informing the officials about the matter. This is the first time after the change of political rule in Bangladesh on August 5 last year, the two are interacting in Dhaka, the head of both forces.
Indian delegation of BSF, Ministry of Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs officials is engaged in conversation with 21 members of Bangladesh under the leadership of BGB head BGB head BGB chief General Mohammad Ashrafuzamman Siddiqui. The Indian side is headed by Director General (Director General) Daljit Singh Chaudhary. It is said about making an officer aware of the matter, “The Indian delegation reached Dhaka on Monday and the talks started this afternoon.
In a statement on Friday, the BSF stated that the discussion held between August 25 and 28 will focus on action against Indian rebel groups (IIGS) in Bangladesh, border infrastructure issues, attacks on BSF personnel and attacks on Indian citizens by Bangladesh-based miscreants, prevention of trans-ball crimes, construction of a single-robberry and manufacturing a single-robberies.
The last DG-level meeting was hosted by BSF in New Delhi from 17 February to 20 February 2025. These bi-annual dialogues are held alternately in India and Bangladesh. During the February talks, both major major disputed fences agreed to conduct joint inspections and surveys at the sites. However, BSF personnel on the ground have confirmed that BGB forces have blocked the construction of single row fence (SRF) at many places, yet earlier agreements reached under previous regime. According to officials, about a dozen sites remain unresolved, where both sides have not yet had an agreement on the construction of a single-rich fence within 150 meters of the border.
United India-Bangladesh guidelines for border officials (1975) recommend regular contact between the border forces of the two countries to remove administrative concerns. The first such meeting was held in December 1975. After discussion between domestic secretaries of India and Bangladesh in Dhaka from 7 to 9 October 1993, it was agreed that DG-level meetings would be held twice a year.
