Dharmashala, India -Dalai Lama said on Wednesday that centuries -old Tibetan Buddhist institute would continue after his death, ending the years of speculation that began when he indicated that he could be the last person playing the role. His successor would mean that he will be given rebirth.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner of Tibetan Buddhism, the spiritual head, said at the prayer ceremony before his upcoming 90th birthday that the next Dalai Lama should be found and recognized as per previous Buddhist traditions, while indicating that China should stay away from the process of identifying its successor.

The Dalai Lama’s succession plan is politically resulting for most of the Tibetans, who oppose the tight control of China’s Tibet and struggle to keep their identity alive, in their motherland or in exile. It is also deep for Tibetan Buddhists, who worship them as a living expression of Chenrejig, the Buddhist deity of compassion.
However, the decision is expected to disturb China, which has repeatedly stated that it has the right to approve the next religious leader. It insists that the regenerated figure should be found in the Tibetan regions of China, which the Communist officials have been selected.
Many observers believe that the rival will eventually be the Dalai Lama – appointed by a Beijing, and a senior monks loyal to the Dalai Lama.
And China said on Wednesday that the Dalai Lama’s rebirth “approved by the Central Government,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning told a regular news briefing.
In 1940, Tenzin Gyataso became the 14th rebirth of the Dalai Lama. He escaped from Tibet when Chinese troops revolted in the Tibetan capital Lhasa in 1959 and lived in the city of Dharmashala in India, while a democratic government-in-in-autonobate.
The Tibetan Buddhists believe that the Dalai Lama can choose the dead body in which he takes rebirth, as has been on 14 occasions since the construction of the institute in 1587. He has reiterated in the past that his successor will be born outside China.
The Dalai Lama planned his succession in a recorded statement, which was aired in a religious gathering of Buddhist monks in Dharamshala. He said that the process of finding and identifying his rebirth is entirely with the Gaden Fodrang Trust – a non -profit body he established in 2015 that oversees matters related to the spiritual leader and the Dalai Lama’s institute.
He said, “No one else has any such right to intervene in this matter,” he said that the discovery of the future Dalai Lama should be “according to the previous tradition”.
The Dalai Lama has often urged its followers to reject anyone chosen by Beijing. Before renouncing his political role in 2011, he also supports this stance that he had done a self-proclaimed Tibetan government-in.
The government’s exile president Penpa Tursing said that Tibetans around the world “requested a boat with single-minded devotion” that the situation of the Dalai Lama should be continued for the benefit of common and Buddhists for the benefit of all passionate beings. ”
He said in a press conference, “In response to this heaviness, his purity has shown infinite compassion and finally agreed to accept our appeal on this special occasion of his 90th birthday.”
However, Tering warned China not to pay attention to the Dalai Lama’s succession process, saying that it is a “unique Tibetan Buddhist tradition.”
He said, “We not only strongly condemn the use of rebirth subject for our political gains of the People’s Republic of China, and will never accept it,” he said.
The discovery of the rebirth of the Dalai Lama begins only with the death of the people.
In the past, the successor has been identified by senior Mathvasi disciples based on spiritual signs and vision, and may take many years after the next Dalai Lama was recognized as a child and ready to take reins.
