Home Amit Shah on Wednesday introduced bills in the Lok Sabha to remove the arrest or detention for 30 days in the arrest of PM, CMS or in the case of crimes.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday introduced the Lok Sabha controversial bills, in which it is proposed that a sitting minister, Chief Minister or even Prime Minister may lose his position within a month if he is arrested or detained directly on a crime for 30 days which takes the duration of jail for five years or more.
The move to introduce the bills was opposed by AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi, after which the opposition’s resentment began, making the Lok Sabha Speaker motivated to postpone the proceedings by 3 pm.
“It violates the separation of the powers. It gives the executive agencies power to play the role of judges, jury and executioners. This bill will empower uneven to play the role of execution,” Owasi said opposing the bill.
He said, “The sections of this bill can be used to destabilize governments. This bill is nothing, but in addition to making a guestopo,” he said.
What are controversial bills
The bills under consideration are – Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill and Union Region Government (Amendment) Bill.
The three bills propose a completely new legal framework that will apply to ministers and CMs in the states and Center areas such as Jammu and Kashmir, and Union Ministers and Union Ministers at the Center and the PM, as HT had previously reported.
To ensure that the bill suggests that an dismissed minister, CM or PM can be re -appointed after release from custody.
Congress MP Manish Tiwari said that the controversial bill is called “squarely destructive”.
Tiwari said, “The Indian Constitution says that there should be a rule of law, and its basis is that you are innocent until you are guilty. The bill expects to change it. It makes an executive agency officer the owner of the Prime Minister,” Amit Shah said in the Lok Sabha after introducing the bill.
Manish Tiwari requested Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to allow opposition leaders to present their arguments against the bills.
