The family of a teenager whose ash was scattered on the pitch of Wrexham AFC received a special tribute from the club’s co-owner Ryan Reynolds.
15 -year -old Aiden Waler died in February three years ago after the diagnosis of osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer.
A deep wrexham fan, Aiden’s ash was scattered on the pitch earlier this year, but needed to replace for the new season.
Want to protect the teenager’s memory, the Rrenalds arranged for some pitches, where their ash was preserved within a glass plaque, before it introduces Aiden’s family in a “emotional” moment.
Reynolds presented the family with special tribute against Wrexham match West brom last Saturday,
Talk to BBC Radio Wells BreakfastAiden’s mother, Sarah Waller described it as a “really emotional moment”, which did not expect the family.
“He presented it to us in a beautiful glass case with the text on top, stating that ‘Aiden Waller: Wrexham Legend. Friends for Dedpool. Then. Now. Now.
Sara said, “The word he was on was absolutely beautiful,” saying that Eden was a huge Marvel and Deadpool fan, and would have been “ecstasy” with a gift.
According to Sara, Rrenalds changed the word several times on the plaque “to make it perfect”.
He said, “He told us that it was special for us to give us only us.”
“It is beautiful. If we make light arrangements correctly, we are able to create a rainbow, which Ryan has suggested.”
The family knew that when Eden’s ashes were scattered on him, the pitch would be replaced, but said it was something that Rrenalds asked was whether they wanted to do.
Sara said, “She called me a day after the funeral and said if we could spread ashes on the pitch, they secretly put a little in the goal.”
“His plan was to preserve that piece of pitch for Aiden.”
Sara said, “The way people thought of Aiden and the friends he never knew, he did not know how special he was. There is no word for his character,” Sara said.
He described Aiden as “the strongest, the strongest, the most brave, the most inspiring child I ever got”.
“He fought with Osteosarcoma for three years, fighting each piece of bad news after time with humor and amazing spirit.”
Sara said that Rrenalds posted a picture on her Instagram account of Aiden’s family on the pitch in March, and one more photo with the gift given to her last Saturday.
Sara said, “It just goes to show how much it is appreciated for fans of Reynolds, that she is ready to make so much effort to ensure that we have been heard.”
“Although we are from Essex, this is just something that will allow us to have a continuous relationship with Wrexham.”
