Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah on Friday accused the opposition candidate of “support” Naxalism for the upcoming vice -president elections, Justice B. Sudarson Reddy.
The Union Home Minister was speaking during the inauguration of the Manorama News Conclave organized by the Malayala Manorama Group in Kochi.
According to PTI, Shah highlighted the Salwa Judam decision, commenting, saying that if it was not distributed, extremists in the country were left.

What was Salwa Judam decision?
Justice Reddy gave a verdict on Salwa Judam in December 2011, saying that using tribal youth as special police officers to fight against the Maoist rebels was illegal and unconstitutional.
Special police officers were also called ‘Koya Commandos’ or Salwa Judam. The SC ruled that these officers should be canceled immediately.
During the conclave, Shah said that Kerala had faced the results of the decision, stating that the residents of the state noticed that “under pressure from the left parties”, the Congress fielded a candidate who “supported Naxalism and used a sacred platform like the Supreme Court.”
Who is B Sudarson Reddy?
Reddy started his career as a lawyer with Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh in December 1971, as his Vice-Presidential candidate from the opposition India block.
Born in July 1946, he served as a government petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court between 1988 and 1990, and has previously worked as a legal advisor and permanent lawyer for Osmania University.
Reddy was appointed as a permanent judge of Andhra Pradesh HC in May 1995, and became the Chief Justice of Gauhati HC in December 2005. He eventually became a judge in the Supreme Court of India on 12 January 2007, in which he served in 2011 till his retirement.
