New Delhi: Next to the annual Kanwar Yatra, Uttarakhand Chief Minister K. Chief Minister Singh Dhami reviewed the preparations in Haridwar on Thursday and used to prevent any repetition of the incidents labeled as “Spit Jihad” to direct the authorities, a word used by a disputed BJP leaders used to describe the perceived examples of foods during the previous yatras.“Efforts are to ensure that Kanvarij coming to Haridwar is returning with a good experience. The events of ‘Spit Jihad’ took place during the first Kanwar Yatra. I asked the authorities to ensure that they have been repeated,” reporters said after a high level review meeting with officials.What is ‘Spit Jihad’?The term was trashed after the video emerged in previous years, in which individuals were reportedly shown to spit in food, one used to allegedly spit on the apple while preparing the rotis in the roadside Dhaba and the other, including a fruit seller. These videos triggers displeasure and communal tension, inspiring Crackdown in many parts of the country.To compete with such incidents, the Uttarakhand government has instructed the owners of all spots, restaurants, hotels and road -edge eateries along with the target of ensuring hygiene practices and accountability.Travel guidelines and safety measuresThe two -week pilgrimage, Kanwar Yatra, which starts next week, will see thousands of Shiva devotees from across the country to reach Haridwar to collect holy Ganges water.Warm welcome to all Kanwari, CM Dhami also urged pilgrims to follow the guidelines of the journey. He said, “They should not be the cause of noise pollution by playing DJs loudly. They should also keep the size of Kanwar within the prescribed limits,” he said.
