Police said a person was arrested in the 70s after a mobility when a mobility scooter driver was allegedly punched in the head, he was severely left in the hospital, said by the police.
The Northumbria police said that officials were called to the roundabout at the Whitelles at South Shields at around 15:30 BST on Saturday after reports of a serious attack.
It was reported that there was a dispute between a person in Nissan Micra and Mobility Scooter Driver.
The man allegedly came out in the car and the mobility scooter driver – a man in the 60s – in the head and neck, causing him to fall to the ground.
Emergency services took the person who suffered serious injuries, in the hospital.
Police said the other person was arrested on suspicion of seriously damaging with intentions.
Since then, he has been released on further interrogation pending bail.
The Northumbria Police has appealed to any witness to come forward.
