Washington – Former Democratic Sen Sherod Brown on Monday announced the bid to represent Ohio in the Senate on Monday, about a year after his reconstruction attempt in 2024.
Brown said, “I did not plan to run to the office again. But when I see what is going on, I know I can do something about it for Ohio,” Brown said Video Announcement. “That’s why I am running for the Senate, because even in these challenging times, I believe that if you are standing for workers, you treat people with respect, and always fight for Ohio, you can really make a difference.”

In 2026, Brown is set to face against Sen John Husted, a Republican appointed to fill the other Senate seat of Ohio, which was evacuated by Vice President JD Vance. The special election will determine who will serve the remaining tenure of Vance, which means the winner will have to run for re -election in 2028.
Husted, 57, was appointed by Ohio village Mike Dewin in January, and first served as Lieutenant Governor of Dewin.
Ohio’s race is expected to be a difficult fight for Democrats, as the party wants to resume majority in the Senate. With 53 Republicans in the upper chamber, Democrats will need to protect seats in potentially competitive states, flipping four seats to resume the majority in 2026.
