Republican currently conducts both the state’s American Senate seats – Ernst and long -standing Sen Chak Grassley – and all four of the Congress districts of Iowa, as well as all the state -wide offices except the state auditor, which is near the Democrat Rob Sand, which is running for the Governor next year.
But Democrats in Iowa have been activated after flipping two GOP-Aegery Senate seats in special elections so far this year.

Since Trump’s victory in 2016, Ernst has tried to balance his support for the President as he is ready for a more traditional Republican agenda.
Earlier this year, Ernst created a controversy after “we are all going to die” as he responded to a voter at the Town Hall meeting, which expressed concern over the Medicade cuts at the GOP’s comprehensive domestic policy bill.
Republicans are not only aiming to defend, but also expand the current 53–47 Senate majority in next year’s elections.
The Senate Republican enjoyed a favorable map in the 2024 cycle as they flipped four seats from blue to red to win the majority back.
But the party in power -Republican is currently facing political headwinds in midnight elections from Partition. Nevertheless, a current reading of the 2026 map indicates that GOP may be able to go on crime in some major states.
In Batalground Georgia, which Trump carried forward in the last year’s White House race, looks at Republican First-Term Sen. John Ossoff next year as the weakest democrats for the re -election.
They are also targeting the battleground Michigan, where Democratic Sen Gary Peters are retiring later, and the swing state New Hampshire, where the Democratic Sen Jean Shaheen for a long time decided against the fourth six -year tenure in the Senate.

The NRSC’s target list also has blue-shock Minnesota, where Democratic Sen Tina Smith is not running again for the election.
But GOP Battleground is defending an open seat in North Carolina, where Republican Sen Thom Tils again decided against the demand for election.
