Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday held a high-level meeting to review the security arrangements for the upcoming alumni meeting of Kashmir University. It will include Chief Justice of India Bhushan Ramakrishna Gawai, two Supreme Court judges and Union Minister for Union Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju.IGP Kashmir, VK Burdi presided over the meeting at the Police Control Room. According to a police statement, the Burdy has directed to intensify monitoring around major places and has prepared an effective traffic management plan to ensure the smooth movement of the guests and the general public.Supreme Court Justices Surya Kant and Vikram Nath, Jammu -Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha, and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will also attend the meeting to be held on 27 July.University Registrar Naseer Iqbal told TOI that the invitation response is heavy. “Since this is the first program of its kind of the university since its establishment in 1948, the alumni has shown interest,” he said. He said, “Hundreds of people have registered. Although some can be excluded due to logical obstacles, the university has planned to accommodate everyone in future, organizing such events in future,” he said.= Originally established as Jammu and Kashmir University in 1948, the institution was bounted in two in 1969 – Kashmir University in Srinagar and Jammu University in Jammu. The University of Kashmir is located at Hazratbal in Srinagar, whose complex is spread over the west between the East and Nigen Lake between the Lake of Dal on 247 acres. The complex is divided into two main classes – Hazratbal Campus and Naseem Bagh Campus. Nasim Bagh is famous for its centuries -old chinner trees and is a major autumn attraction that has a witness of changing colors of chinner trees to hundreds of visitors.
