In a decisive step towards proofing its puberty and economy in the future, Saudi Arabia is starting a nationwide artificial intelligence (AI) course for general education students in the 2025-2026 academic year. More than six million students will first engage with AI studies – a step that reflects the widespread vision of the state to integrate emerging technologies in education and national development.
A multi -agency initiative to reopen education
The development and rollout of the new AI course is the result of a strategic partnership that includes several government bodies. The National Course Center, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAI) jointly prepared the program.This course is not only a new subject added to textbooks; It marks the first significant change towards a differential and future-oriented educational structure in Saudi schools. It is ready to help students understand the basic and practical aspects of AI, which prepares them to navigate and shape a technology-operated world from an early age.
Align Vision 2030 : Education as a tool for national change
The introduction of AI education at the school level is directly aligning with the Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom blueprint for economic diversification and social advancement. One of the major pillars of this vision is building knowledge-based society supported by skilled human capital.Through this course, students will be encouraged:
- Understand how AI can solve real -world problems.
- Develop solutions using AI technologies in everyday scenarios.
- Nutrition creativity, analytical thinking and innovation.
- Prepare for higher studies and career in AI, a field ready to dominate future job markets.
The final goal is to cultivate a generation that can compete globally in technology and innovation that can enable permanent growth and increase the state’s position as a leader in data and AI.
Nationwide outline and training for teachers and learners
To ensure that AI education is moral, effective and globally, many complementary initiatives are underway:
- AI Education Guide: Ministry of Education and SDAIA jointly issued a comprehensive guide for responsible use of generic AI in classes. This promotes as a tool for supporting AI-that replaced-teachers, ensure that the teaching teacher-centered and values-based.
- Saudi Academic Infrastructure for AI Qualification (Education Intelligence): SDAAA and created by the Education and Training Assessment Commission, this structure accepts academic AI programs in institutions. This ensures that graduate qualifications align with global expectations and industry needs, increasing the confidence of the employer in their efficiency.
- Samai initiative: In collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Human Resource and Social Development, SDAIA has launched Samai initiative to promote national AI literacy. The purpose of the program is to equip a million Saudi with the necessary AI knowledge and skills. So far, more than 500,000 individuals of various age groups and professional background have been registered.
Advanced learning opportunities and global risk
In addition to school level reforms, Saudi Arabia is investing in high-level AI training and international academic risk:
AI Scholarship Program : Through a partnership between SDAIA, Ministry of Education, and the patron of two Holy Mosque Scholarship Program, the Kingdom is sponsoring talented students in top global universities to earn AI and data science degrees. The program is designed to prepare future Saudi leaders in state -of -the -art technologies.Generational ai academy : SDAIA, in collaboration with Tech veteran Nvidia, has launched the generic AI Academy to nurture local talents capable of innovating in marginal technical fields. This academy works under the umbrella of the wider SDAIA Academy, which is a national platform, which focuses on strengthening of Saudi Arabia’s international standing in AI leadership and advanced technologies.
