A mechanical failure at a popular amusement park in Taif, a city of Mountain in Saudi Arabia, led a terrible accident, injuring 23 people, including many seriously. The incident came to light on Wednesday evening at the Green Mountain Park located in a popular resort destination Al Hada region in western Saudi Arabia.
Riding ride in terrible collapse to mid-air
The phenomenon occurred on a ride known as 360 degrees, the attraction of a large pendulum-style that rotates the riders from the side on a central rotating pole. The ride was in full operation and was packed with visitors, without warning, the central pole divided into two parts in mid-hwa. A cracking sound was heard in a few moments before the collapse, followed by a vigorous thood as a circular gondola, still crashed on the ground, holding the passengers.Widely shared video footage on social media depicts a swinging ride with many people, most young men and women, who shout in enthusiasm. Within seconds, their pleasure turns into nervousness because the central structure is separated. An object seems to be flowing in the air, and chaos bursts as the audience runs to help, while some people try to escape from the scene.According to eyewitness witnesses quoted by the Khaleej Times, the pole resurrected at a high speed before the collapse. It also killed the people standing in the opposite direction of the ride, adding the number of injuries. Many people were thrown out of the seats during the malfunction, while others suffered injuries due to influence as the ride hit the ground.
Emergency response and injury report
Emergency services, including civil defense, police units and medical teams, were immediately sent to the park. While some of the injured were treated at the scene, most were taken to nearby hospitals. Officials later confirmed that three of the 23 victims had suffered serious injuries. Fortunately, no fatal was reported.Videos and photos from the scene show the visitors of the park in crisis, some are lying on the ground with the injured persons. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic and painful, as the area around the Mangald ride was quickly closed by the authorities.In response to the accident, Taif’s Governor Prince Saud bin Nahar ordered an immediate shutdown of recreational facility. A formal investigation has been initiated to determine the root cause of malfunction. A statement by the Governor of the TAIF reported by the Saudi Gazette confirmed whether the purpose of the investigation was to ensure accountability and assess whether the security protocol was adequately followed.
