New Delhi: A four -day education summit will be held in Kaldi, Kerala from 25 to 28 July to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) and to strengthen traditional knowledge systems. Condicated by an RSS associated with an RSS to revive “Indian ethos in education, Shikha Culture organized by Utran Nas, will bring about 300 selected academics simultaneously, along with Gyan Sabha, senior officials and spiritual organizations.The Vice Chancellor of Universities, Director of Central Institutions, AICTE Chairperson TG Sitaram, UGC Vice President, and NAAC Director are expected to participate with government representatives. “Education ministers of Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Puducherry have confirmed their participation. We are not inviting all ministers or vice-chancellors, but a select group of prominent stakeholders who can contribute meaningfully to this discussion,” Atul Kothari, National Secretary of Ness said in a statement.A parallel program will focus on the education sector of Kerala, with 1,000 participants, 200 selected academics and governor Rajendra Arlekar of the state, stated in a press statement. “This is the first time that such a major incident is being held in Kerala, we wanted local teachers and eminent citizens to benefit from it.RSS chief, Mohan Bhagwat, will attend the summit and will give a lecture on “Indian in education” in a public event on 27 July. On the last day, on 28 July, he will address a national intellectual session, titled “Gyan Sabha: Vikasit Bharat Hatu Shikha”. Kothari stated that Bhagwat’s presence “underlines the growing association of the Sangh with educational reforms as part of its large cultural and social agenda.”NYAS has previously taken initiatives like Gyan Aquarius and Gyan Mahakumba to promote Indian knowledge traditions, languages, mathematics, skill development and character building. “As Dr. DS Kothari said decades ago, education is the most powerful means of national change. Our challenge is to connect India’s heritage with contemporary needs,” Kothari said.While supporters see this as an essential corrective for the systems of the colonial era, critics have accused the RSS of demanding saffron education. The summit comes amid courses reforms and debates on the rollout of NEP in states.
