New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly and Kalkaji MLA, Atisi, wrote to Chief Minister Rekhaji Gupta on Saturday, citing the murder of a savadar in the Kalkaji temple and claimed that the national capital has turned into the “capital of crime, forced and gang wars”.There was no immediate response to the statement of the BJP or the Delhi government. In his letter, Atisi alleged that Delhi no longer feels safe in its homes, markets or places of worship.Referring to Friday’s incident, 35-year-old Sevdar Yogendra Singh was beaten to death by a group of visitors allegedly after a dispute, stating that the murder was not “not an isolated case but there was evidence of law and order situation in the capital.”Listing the recent incidents of violence, Atii reminded the Chief Minister that earlier this month, a cousin of actor Huma Qureshi was killed in Nizamuddin, a youth was stabbed near the office of the Police Commissioner in an IP extension, and a firing was done at the residence of a property dealer.“Even you were recently attacked. If the Chief Minister himself is not safe, how can the common citizens feel safe?” He asked.“This proves that laws and order are under control of criminals, while the police have been reduced to helplessness,” he wrote.Booting the “Char-Inzon BJP government”, Atii said, “Instead of accelerating security and development, four engines have blocked Delhi. If you cannot ensure security for Delhi, you have no right to remain in power. It is better if you resign.”Echoing similar sentiments, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal called the BJP -led Delhi government on recent security issues in the national capital.“The hands of these miscreants are shivering before the brutal killing of Sevdar inside the Kalkji temple? He questioned the X in a post.
