First on Fox: A Republican MP is preventing the states from allowing people coming to America illegally or living here to become an illegal police officer.

And it is really disappointing to see the challenges that he told Fox News Digital in an interview over the last decades.

“And, you know, being a conservative, we have seen the entire defunded police movement – and now it has come around, because due to the retention and recruitment challenges, the department is now so desperate that they want to rent their ranks illegally to fill their ranks. And it is terrible.”
In addition to blocking funds for police departments, if they appoint illegal migrants as officers, the bill will mandate that only American citizens can work as law enforcement officers.
It comes after immigrants and Customs Enforcement (ICE), allegedly arrested a Jamaica National as a reserve police officer in the main and arrested a Jamaica National for illegally buying a gun.

Federal officials said that man, John Luke Evans, legally abolished his visa after legally entered the US in 2023. He allegedly said that he wanted to buy a gun in relation to his law enforcement role.
The Chief Allice Chard of the Old Orchard Beach Police Department said that Evans was approved by the Homeland Security (DHS) e-verified system department in May this year to work.
Assistant DHS Secretary Trisia McLaglin told local outlet Wmtw The department’s “careless dependence on e-verification” did not “absent” its “legal duty” to verify the document authenticity.

Meanwhile, several states including California, Illinois and Colorado have law authority allowing non-citizens with law authority, such as DACA recipients, to become a police officer.
