The interim leader of the Warvikshire County Council plans to appoint political assistants in a year at a cost of up to £ 190,000.
One of the three largest parties in an Assistant Council will serve each of the three – improvement UK, Liberal Democrats and Orthodox.
George Finch, the leader of the reform, who is running the authority as a minority administration, said it was necessary because the council employees have been “unable to help come up with imaginative ideas to resolve the major issues”.
Lib Dames, Labor and Green Party oppose this idea. Lib Dame Leader Jerry Roadhouse said that money should be “spent on front-line services and not political assistants”.
The National Law Councils allowed three people to be appointed for this role, for each of the three largest groups of the authority, provided they have at least 10% seats available.
The role of an assistant is “to do research and provide administrative assistance to members of political groups in any of their discharge [council] Work “.
While what they can say will be banned, they are allowed to “talk to the public with the intention of influencing the support for a political party and published the material to get support for a political party.
Together, the full salary limit for these jobs will be between £ 151,000 and £ 190,000.
The 19 -year -old Finch will present his proposal at a full council meeting on Tuesday, when a vote will also be held to decide if he should become the leader of the council.
If he was confirmed in the role, he will be the youngest in that situation in the country and in the Warwickshire, the property of the £ 1.5BN council, along with the wealth of half a billion pounds.
Two weeks ago, the reform UK Cabinet unanimously accepted the prescribed principles in the council’s medium -term financial plan, including the claim that it would be “required to determine a very high bar for new permanent budget allocation”.
Disagreement on plans
In a statement, Finch said: “For years, the Council Administration has trusted the corporate policy team that we are facing the crisis to come up with the innovative ideas required for Warwickshire to Shepherd Warvikshire through the crisis we are facing.
“We have found that this team should be unable to be unable to be unable to change for which we were elected.”
He said that the council needed “fresh, bold approach to policy making”.
But Rudhouse said: “I will spend £ 150,000 on family support workers or something that is useful in the community.”
Green Party Group leader Jonathan Chilwars said he was “very surprised” by the proposal and said: “Their claim for voters would cut the expenses of the ‘useless’ council, and yet their first proposal is accurate opposite.”
Labor Group Leader Sarah Feni said: “Given that we are at a time when services have a large -scale cut to balance books, it seems like an unnecessary expense.”
The conservative group said that it has not yet made up his mind on the proposals.
